Francis of Assisi and the economy of fraternity
Francis is also a name of the economy. It may not be the first word that springs to mind, but the great prophecy of Assisi was – and is – also an economic prophecy, an announcement of an economic “not yet.” Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino, who, for a long time, has enriched the reflection on the social doctrine of the Church and on the Franciscan and Christian economy (especially through his important writings on the thought of Giuseppe Toniolo), with this agile and intense work, continues the deepening of the economic thought of St. Francis and of the Franciscan tradition, in dialogue with the evangelical and Christian tradition of economic thought, and, in particular, with the economic-social teaching of Pope Francis.
